Presentation

The Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies, known as the P.I.S.A.I., is a study and research centre which aims to promote interreligious dialogue with Muslims through a deep knowledge of the Arabic language and Islamic studies. The Institute was founded by the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers) who, in 1926, opened a school for the training of witnesses to the Gospel working in Arab countries and in Muslim environments. In 1964, at the behest of Pope Paul VI, the Institute was moved to Rome where, since that time, it has been a point of reference for all who are working in the field of meetings at an intellectual level and of interreligious dialogue with Muslims and who are seeking a scientific and informed approach to these questions.
