Title : The history of interpretations of the Koranic hapax legomena
The aim of this study was to describe the hapax legomena amongst the lexemes that are the only ones derived by their roots (hapax legomena of unical roots, HLu). In the first part their contribution to Koranic morphology, rhyme (homoioptoton), phonetics, semantics and rhetoric was determined, that was followed by a second, hermeneutic part in which the interpretations of 14 HLu were to be reconstructed as they have been marked as unclear in the notable German translation by Rudi Paret more than once. For this purpose eight Arabic thesauri and 17 Koranic exegeses were used. These 14 HLu were : Hubuk (Q 51:7), Hard (Q 68:25), Husuum (Q 69:7), dusur (Q 54:13), rahw (Q 44:24), zaniim (Q 68:13), saamiduun (Q 53:61), musannadah (Q 63:4), shuwaaZ (Q 55:35), Samad (Q 112:2), `iDiin (Q 15:91), qiTT (Q 38:16), kunnas (Q 81:16) and naHb (Q 33:23).
